JONATHON S

STUDIO LEVEL:  $1,095 - $1,495

Strengths: Deliberative | Responsibility | Intellection | Adaptability | Empathy

If you had to give yourself a "DJ Name" what would it be? Jaunty J
One little known fact about you? I'm Canadian
What is your all-time favorite song? Somewhere on a Beach - Dierks Bentley
If you weren't a wedding DJ, what other career path could you see yourself in? On top of being a DJ I perform and teach music. I'm a guitarist primarily but love playing piano, ukulele, bass, and trombone. I love the feeling when you're up on stage performing!
If you could be any particular singer or musician, who would you be? Ed Sheehan. He is a great showman and seems like a really down-to-earth guy. He's the kind of guy I could see hanging out with casually and then going to play a huge show.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I run a volunteer group that goes around to various senior residencies and plays music for the seniors. Usually old jazz music, because that was the pop music of their teen years, and they really light up when they hear it.
If your life was a song what would the title be? Magic
How would you describe your emcee style? Flexible. I want to guests to be happy so I like to cater to what they prefer. But, when left in my element I can be pretty charismatic.
What do you do to create that WOW factor at a wedding? I would want to try doing some live mixing on the tracks. I'm a music major so I'm familiar with the equipment and sound so it can be fun to play around with loops and cues.
Tell me about the best dance you've ever attended and why it was great. The best dance I ever attended was a wedding out in a barn. There was just an iPod hooked up to a speaker with the Bride and Groom's playlist and everyone was just having a great time in the middle of nowhere. I felt like I connected with everyone there just because it was secluded on a farm.
What do you do to motivate the crowd if no one is dancing? I would try breaking out some Earth, Wind, and Fire. If that doesn't work I would put on some slow music to get the non-dancers out on the floor and then play something upbeat!
Favorite artist/group? And why? Ed Sheeran. He can sell out Madison Square garden with just himself, a guitar, and a looper pedal. That takes some talent.

“Jonathon S was AWESOME!!!!! Our reception was perfect! He kept people on the dance floor all night which was very important to us. And checked in with both myself and my husband many time throughout the evening to make sure it was exactly as we wanted it. I would DEFINITELY hire him for any event. Great job ! Thank you so much!” MARY

“We worked with DJ Jonathon Shields for our wedding, and we were so lucky to do so. Jon was on point all night, and checked with us to make sure that everything was going well. He also accommodated our special, last-minute requests like a pro, and we could not have been happier. If we ever need a DJ, we'll call him first! We also worked with the photographer Amber Johnson, who was fantastic. We had so much fun working with her for our pre-ceremony photos and she captured some really incredible shots. Our families also enjoyed working with Amber, and once the wedding got underway, Amber and her second shooter, Chris, kept snapping photos without getting in the way at all. On the whole, Bellagala was a really first-rate experience, and we could not be happier.” TEREZ

“We had Jonathon Shields as our DJ and he was absolutely amazing! He was super easy to work with and took care of everything! He listened to everything we wanted and played songs geared towards to whoever was on the dance floor. We couldn't have gotten a better DJ for our big day!” KATIE
