Their Story
Mollie and Kurt met through a mutual friend while both attending Arizona State University. After college, they dated long distance. Kurt was living in California and Mollie was in Minnesota. They didn't get to see each other nearly as often as they wanted, so each visit was special.

One Thursday evening when Mollie came home from work, she found Kurt on her doorstep dressed in a suit and tie. He led her in to her loft which was completely covered in candles and rose petals. Pictures of the two of them from all stages of their relationship were taped all over the walls and cupboards. According to Mollie, "He said the most wonderful words and proposed! So romantic!" Family has always been very important to Mollie, so she knew that she wanted to have her wedding reception at her parent's home on Lake Minnetonka. It would be a classic and romantic themed wedding, with ivory and red as the main colors.

The day was just beautiful, with the weather cooperating for all of the outdoor activities planned. About 200 guests attended the wedding, including many of Kurt's relatives from Sweden. The ceremony took place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, only a few miles from the home.

The guests arrived for the reception, starting with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the patio and front lawn. "One favorite moment was pulling up together in our horse and buggy to be greeted by all of our friends and family at the cocktail hour! We were announced as everyone cheered and blew bubbles!" Mollie recalls.

For dinner, the guests moved in to the tent. After dinner, guests stayed for a personalized, entertaining slideshow, dancing and fireworks.

Meghann and Pat had not one, but two wedding receptions in June to celebrate their nuptials. History was made as Heidi and Scott became the first couple to wed on live TV at the Minnesota State Fair.

Their fairy tale began on Aug. 5, when Scott was notified that out of 200 couples, they were chosen as the winners of the FAIRytale Wedding package, which included their wedding attire, a honeymoon suite and everything in between. After hearing the news, he secretly visited Wedding Day Diamonds to pick out an engagement ring. Two days later, on live TV, he replaced the two-year old 50-cent gum ball machine ring with a diamond.

The following three weeks whirled by as the couple worked closely with Gretchen, a Bellagala event planner, to pull together the details of their dream wedding. And at 3 p.m. on Aug. 28, in front of family, friends, hundreds of fair-goers and thousands of TV viewers, the couple said their vows and became husband and wife.

The party that followed was a unique celebration full of laughter, fun, food on a stick and dancing to a live jazz band before the couple ended their perfect day at the Hotel Ivy in downtown Minneapolis.
